What is the difference between hardwire and NEMA 14-50 EV charger installation?

A hardwire installation connects your charger directly to your electrical panel (our $450 option) for a clean, permanent connection that supports up to 60A/48A — ideal for Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint Home Flex, and Emporia units. A NEMA 14-50 outlet ($650) installs a heavy-duty 240V outlet so you can plug in a portable or plug-style charger. Both are Level 2 and code-compliant, but hardwire delivers faster, steadier charging and a cleaner look.

Which EV charger brands does AER Electric install?

We install and support all major brands including Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint, Emporia, JuiceBox, Wallbox, Grizzl-E, Tesla Mobile Connector, and more — for Tesla, Ford, Chevy, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, Rivian, and every EV make. If you already own a charger, we'll wire it. If you need one, we'll help you choose the right unit for your home.

Do you handle permits and inspections for EV charger installation?

Yes. As a licensed electrical contractor (LIC #1126201), we handle all permits, load calculations, and SDG&E coordination for your EV charger installation. We schedule the required inspection so your installation is fully code-compliant and passes on the first try — giving you peace of mind and eligibility for utility rebates and incentives.

How fast can I get my EV charger installed in San Diego County?

We offer same-week installation across Chula Vista, National City, Bonita, La Mesa, El Cajon, Eastlake, Otay Ranch, and all of San Diego County. A standard hardwire or NEMA 14-50 install typically takes just 2–4 hours, and most calls are answered within the hour.

Is my electrical panel ready for an EV charger?

Most modern homes with a 200-amp panel handle a Level 2 EV charger with no problem. If your panel is older, undersized (100-amp or less), or already near capacity, you may need a panel upgrade — which we also install. We provide a free assessment and clear upfront pricing before any work begins.

How much does EV charger installation cost in San Diego?

Our pricing is transparent: hardwire installation starts at $450 and NEMA 14-50 outlet installation starts at $650 (installation labor only; hardware and permit sold separately). A free on-site estimate is available for custom projects, and financing is available through Acorn Finance.

What EV Owners Say

"AER Electric hardwired my Tesla Wall Connector — clean conduit work, and a truly professional install from real EV experts. Charging at 48A now and it's flawless. Carlos even showed me how to schedule charging during off-peak hours."

— Carlos T., Bonita

"Got a NEMA 14-50 outlet installed for my Ford Lightning. The team ran 50 feet of cable from our panel through the crawlspace — super clean work. The EV-rated receptacle they used is way heavier duty than the cheap ones at the hardware store. Worth every penny!"

— Jason K., Chula Vista

"Had AER install a ChargePoint Home Flex hardwired on a 60A circuit. Expert installers who clearly know their craft — clean work, backed by their warranty, and zero hassle. If you need an EV charger in San Diego, these are the guys."
